App Review: BioDigital Human

By Ravish Amin

The surge in apps for anatomy has given medical students a choice in how they choose to learn anatomy.  While most apps include excellent anatomical detail about the human body, only some apps combine these visuals with great software features, resulting in a systems-based approach that allows students to learn effectively.

The BioDigital Human is a 3D platform that has a unique Chrome app for learning anatomy, diseases, and treatments. The app offers audio, video, and text about diseases with a search box and the ability to bookmark anatomical disease topics.

The application allows users to zoom in on selected anatomical parts and includes a dynamically updated list of common conditions associated with each anatomical part. The dissect anatomy feature lets students virtually dissect the human body.
