ALL the positive things you read about FIRST AID are about the OLD FIRST AID BOOKS. The current versions are disgraceful and shouldn’t have the same name.
You guys need to get your act together. This book is an EMBARRASSMENT.
If you compare 2013 First Aid with one from 4-5 years ago, you will see older versions are better. The number of errors and wrong charts blows me away.
How do you take a PICTURE you published LAST YEAR, then publish the picture THIS YEAR WITH ERRORS? Who is doing your editing?
I think this book got a HUGE following b/c years ago it was good. The book today is absolute garbage. Kaplan Med Essentials and other texts are much better and are the new competition.

First Aid is a great resource, but I think that the propofol comment on p.454 should be removed. It is written in a way that pokes fun at the death of a human being that inspired a lot of people in our country. It is in bad taste. Anyone agree?

It’s probably a scam…a shameful scam to always include errors…so that people keep buying the updated version. It’s sickening that they don’t care if people take these mistakes into their career with them. Medical book with the largest amount of errata; sad when money talks.

As a medical student who’s taking step 1 Boards in January 2014 I’m ashamed that all of you are so upset with some stupid errors in one frickin textbook! Our generation of medical students are the lazy ones, not First Aid! We need everything spoon-fed to us… older generations didn’t even have the luxury of having “boards preparatory books.” Plus, if all you’re relying on to study for this exam is one book then you will surely not get a score that you’re hoping for. Cut First Aid a break and go out and buy some supplemental texts or do Qbank questions to fill in those gaps of knowledge, this book should simply be used as a backbone for studying!
Ray is right. They purposely make errors that dont exist to sell you a new FA which by the way will not be any better because they want all the people studying FA for the first time to want to buy the latest. Oh how you people with M.D.’s and PhD’s are so unethical.
Please correct you errata for 2013 – Pg 288 Insulin (c). Glucose enters the Beta cell by Glut-2 NOT Glut-4 (or Glut-1)
You’re errata for First Aid 2013 is incorrect about p. 288 on Insulin, it enters pancreatic B-cell via GLUT-2
